tag:www.csidm.sg,2009:mephisto/ Mephisto Drax 2008-09-01T09:19:07Z admin tag:www.csidm.sg,2008-07-23:1 2008-07-23T03:33:00Z 2008-09-01T09:19:07Z <p>The China-Singapore Institute of Digital Media (CSIDM) was set up by the <a href="http://www.ia.ac.cn/">Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA)</a> with fund support by the <a href="http://www.mda.gov.sg">Media Development Authority (MDA)</a> of Singapore under the <a href="http://www.idm.sg">Interactive Digital Media Programme Office (IDMPO)</a> initiative.</p> <p>CSIDM's vision is to be the world's digital language learning hub. It focuses on research on human language technologies and immersive and interactive learning environments, with the aim of enabling people to learn and communicate through different languages.</p> <p>Initial projects covering spoken dialogues analysis, language translation, affective video analysis, immersive environment and sensor networks for gesture recognition have been identified, and by end of this year, at least 14 researchers from China would be in Singapore to execute these projects.</p> <p>The co-directors of CSIDM are Professor Xu Bo from Chinese Academy Sciences and Associate Professor Ng Hwee Tou from National University of Singapore. Prof Xu and Prof Ng are well known for their research in speech processing and natural language processing respectively.</p>
